I’m pretty sure that if you are married, you (as a couple) are filing bankruptcy. You are ONE now.

yes it will ruin your credit for a good 7 years, you and your spouse. We did it and some of our creditors never took it off of the credit report. Make sure you are ready for the downfall!!!!!!!!

In most cases yes, it will hurt his credit even if his name is not on a card you use.
Chapter 13 is very serious stuff. Are you sure you don’t have any other options? Ch 13 is usually reserved as a last option.
You are asking the court to make your creditors eat debt. In that case you can understand that it will be a long time before anybody extends credit (at an affordable rate).

If you go bankrupt, file your bankruptcy under Chapter 13. Chapter 13 permits an US resident to reorganize and restructure their finances. It allows you start afresh and get your finances back on the track. The bankruptcy court will supervise and authorize the entire process of overhauling your financial situation. While filing for bankruptcy under Chapter 13, you have to draw up a plan of action meant to pay your dues within the next 3 to 5 years and submit to the bankruptcy court

yes you two are join at the hip — sugguest you try downsizing your life style — cut to the bare bones before you go the bankruptcy route!!!
