I work at CAB and we are seeing loads of these just lately

I suggest you write a letter headed COMPLAINT and again request a breakdown of their full calculations including all payments you made to date covering the WHOLE of the assessment period

They really cannot expect people to cough out loads of money just because they say its correct......a court would not allow them to get away with it so stick to your guns...be polite but let them know you are not going to just pay them what they demand without at least a full explaination of why you owe it. In the letter you should also request they refrain from further recovery action until they have provided you with everything you are asking for

Keep a copies of all correspondence

My partner and i have had the same problems with the csa, we split up for 18 months and my partner was paying them via wages, we got back together around 3 years ago now and they caught up to him and slapped a big on him for 2grand (they say they try to help the single mother but now we are back together they are trying to skint us)

He tried to make sense of it all they said the company he was with were not paying the full amount and that's how it created the bill for us.

We ended up setting up an agreement with them for around 50 pounds on a set day of the month.

But, nothing! no more letters or calls, no money has gone out yet, its been about 5 months now, we think its because they set things up it looks like they thought they resolved it.
